Shockwave Therapy
Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy
Service Description
Shockwave therapy is administered to a tendon or muscle through the skin with a small, handheld device that’s similar to an ultrasound wand. It involves sending pulses of energy to the affected area and effectively jump-starting the body’s ability to regenerate new tissue. These pulses of energy are also used to directly stimulate the nerves at the site of injury and in doing so, help to decrease pain. Shockwave therapy is often used for patients who have sports injuries such as tennis elbow or a pulled hamstring as well as for those who experience pain in their soft tissues, such as that caused by plantar fasciitis.
